About Us.

Thank you for your interest in Pickering Pre-school Playgroup.  We are a small, friendly group situated in the portable cabin on the site of Pickering Community Infant and Nursery School, on Ruffa Lane, Pickering.  We are often recommended to people for the care and activities we provide for children.

We know that your priority is to find a pre-school which offers the right setting for your child, and one that understands the importance of earning the trust and confidence of you, a parent.  We devote our energies to creating a fun and loving environment, whilst promoting the best in childcare and education.  Our goal is to create a positive and motivating experience that will, in turn, play a major role in your child’s future learning and development.

Our friendly, highly trained staff are focused on providing fun and education.  They will work with you to ensure that your child develops as an individual, whilst helping to nurture and encourage learning through discovery and enjoyment.   Not only do we offer education through creativity and play but pride ourselves in understanding the importance of instilling confidence and enthusiasm from an early age.  We want the children to feel secure and happy from the start, so that they can’t wait to come back tomorrow!

Being on the Infant and Nursery School site offers numerous benefits for the children and parents, should your child have an older sibling at the school. We can offer various suggestions to assist should your child be later offered a place in the school nursery, NYC funding can be split between both school and us or should you decide to move your child over into the school as they grow then we can support with a smooth transition.

One question we are often asked is does my child need to be toilet trained before starting at our pre-school. The answer is no. We can offer support and suggestions when you feel it is right for your child.  

We use the Tapestry Online Learning Journal to record and monitor children's development in line with "Development Matters"; the Early Years curriculum.

We are registered for "Childcare Choices", tax-free childcare. Please select the menu option for more information.

All of our staff are Paediatric First Aid trained and certified.

We are registered with "Cool Milk" to offer all children free milk at snack times (unless a child cannot drink regular cow's milk). If your child cannot drink regular cow's milk we will discuss with you what you would like your child to drink as a replacement alongside unlimited water.
